Is Marketing Cloud Next the same as Marketing Cloud Engagement (MCE)?

No. Marketing Cloud Engagement (formerly ExactTarget) runs on separate architecture and requires CRM integration via connectors. Marketing Cloud Next is built natively on the Salesforce Platform, with Data Cloud as its foundation — which is why Agentforce, real-time personalization, and cross-funnel orchestration are possible. You don't have to rip and replace; Salesforce describes the move as a "hop" rather than a full migration.

Do I need Data Cloud to use Marketing Cloud Next?

Yes — Data Cloud is a prerequisite. It's what makes unified profiles, real-time personalization, Agentforce, and cross-object merge fields possible. The good news: Data Cloud is provisioned via Salesforce Foundations for eligible Enterprise customers, and TBG's Data Cloud Activation gets the foundation in place in 5 days.

We're on Account Engagement (Pardot). What happens to us?

Your data, lists, and content carry over. All Account Engagement customers now get access to Marketing Cloud Next features — including Agentforce Campaign Creation, SMS, and advanced personalization — via Permission Set Licenses on their existing SKUs. It's designed to work alongside Account Engagement, not replace it overnight.
